§ 82-33. Placement of waste in containers; special pickups.

  • (a)

    Garbage shall be picked up in garbage cans or garbage bags approved by the city.

    (b)

    Rubbish or trash must be placed in garbage cans, or in disposable containers such as cardboard or corrugated boxes whenever possible. Rubbish or trash that cannot be placed in a container as described in this subsection should be cut in lengths not to exceed four feet and stacked neatly or bundled and tied.

    (c)

    Rubbish or trash that is not properly containerized or cut to an acceptable size and stacked neatly for easy handling by city crews, or any item exceeding 65 pounds, shall require a special pickup that must be called in to the city's public works department. A charge shall be assessed for special pickups, based on the size and type of items involved. See section 82-38(2).

    (d)

    Stoves and refrigerators must have their doors removed. Refrigerators, stoves, heaters, appliances, furnishings, etc., are special pickup items and must be called in, and will be subject to a special pickup fee. Such items shall be picked up from the property, and shall not be placed at curbside.
